Product Owner / Consultant  Digital Transformation (80–100%)

St.Gallen or Bern  ·  permanent  ·  Start by arrangement

For us, managing projects means understanding the technology

We are diselva, independent consultants for digital transformation. We guide clients from their strategic vision to the implementation of the solution, and we share responsibility with the client for the outcome, not just for the plan.

That’s why we’re not looking for someone to handle project administration. We’re looking for someone who has a deep technical understanding of the solution: system architecture, interfaces, data flows, and dependencies. Someone who understands these aspects can identify risks before they appear in status reports, challenge architectural recommendations, and make decisions rather than escalating them.

You don’t need to be familiar with every technology. But you must be willing to dive deep into any technology used in your project, to the point where you can speak with developers and architects on an equal footing.

Your Role

  • You’ll lead implementation projects at client sites—both technically and organizationally—in teams that include internal staff, service providers, and freelancers.
  • Your day-to-day work will involve: gathering requirements, understanding processes, writing specifications, and prioritizing the backlog.
  • You’ll familiarize yourself with the technologies used in your project—from system architecture to integrations—and contribute effectively to technical discussions.
  • You make and justify decisions, even when business units and IT disagree, and review technical proposals rather than simply passing them along.
  • You keep deadlines, budget, and scope in check without hiding behind status reports and processes, demonstrating the skills of a project manager.
  • To the client, you are the person who maintains the big picture.

What You Bring to the Table

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Consultant, or Project Manager on digital projects, with responsibility for the final outcome.
  • Solid technical understanding: system landscapes, architectures, integrations, APIs, and data. You can read an interface specification without needing it translated.
  • Experience with digital platforms such as e-commerce, ERP, CRM, or PIM, and an instinct for the technical cost of a requirement.
  • The curiosity and perseverance to familiarize yourself with unfamiliar technologies until you truly understand them—not just know their names.
  • Experience managing external service providers and freelancers, including handling difficult conversations.
  • Proficiency in requirements engineering and specification, both traditional and agile, depending on the project.
  • The ability to present complex issues in a way that enables senior management to make decisions.
  • Fluency in German and English; willingness to travel; work location in St. Gallen or Bern.

This isn’t for you if…

  • … you view project management as simply keeping track of deadlines and status updates.
  • … you generally pass on technical questions to others.
  • … you see learning a new technology as an extra burden rather than part of the job.
  • … you’d rather document conflicts than resolve them.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful projects. From SMEs to large corporations—every time, a new industry and a new business model.
  • Real responsibility, not just a token role. You take the lead on the technical aspects and have the backing to see it through with the client.
  • In-house technical expertise. Enterprise and software architects serve as sparring partners, helping you grow your technical skills faster.
  • Constantly breaking new ground. Different industries, different system landscapes, different technologies. Onboarding is part of the job here.
  • Independence as a condition of employment. No license commissions, no utilization targets. You recommend what’s right.
  • Quick decision-making. Decisions are made in days, not quarters.
  • Flexible work arrangements at our two locations in St. Gallen and Bern; remote work is possible.
  • Your birthday, Olma, Offa, and the St. Gallen OpenAir count as additional holidays at our company—and of course, that goes for Bern, too.

Application

Send us your cover letter and resume to jobs@diselva.com. We’d also love to see a half-page description of a project you’ve led: the starting point, the most challenging technical decision you faced, how you acquired the necessary knowledge, and the result, even if it didn’t turn out as planned.

We do not work with recruitment agencies and only consider direct applications.
